2-Acetylbenzothiazole(2-Acetylbenzothiazole) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C9H7NOS. It has a light yellow to yellowish solid with a peculiar odor.
2-Acetylbenzothiazole has a variety of applications in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields. It is commonly used as a starting material for deoxygenation, condensation reactions, and the synthesis of compounds. It can also be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of dyes, such as the synthetic dye intermediate 7-(4-nitrophenethyl)-2-Acetylbenzothiazole.
2-Acetylbenzothiazole can be synthesized by a variety of methods. One method is by reacting 2-aminobenzothiazole with an acylating agent. Another synthetic method is by acetylation of bromobenzothiazole.
